Cosmo Connections, May 1998

Alumni Report

by Mary A. Hussey

Dear Cosmo Alumni Friends,

On one of the first beautiful days of spring 1998, we send all of you our greetings. All is well at 307 East John, Champaign, Illinois, and we hope that all of you and yours are happy and content.

One sad note at this point is that most of our 1997-98 residents are finishing school graduating and leaving us. It is always dismal to part with persons with whom we have become closely and happily associated, but it leads to a need for cheerful activity in finding new residents, and we look forward to becoming acquainted with, and attached to, them. This makes the years and the house go round.

This spring semester has been an eminently successful and enjoyable one, with some improvements to the house and with particularly enjoyable programs at the Sunday dinners and at the Thursday evening coffee hours. We wish that you could come to Champaign-Urbana sometime and be present for some of these events. The International Dinner and Performance Night this year (April 5) was perhaps the all-time best one, with acts of truly professional quality.

All of this leads me to asking you a question, in presenting a problem to you. In this "column," I almost always urge you to come and visit us. Since these efforts have not produced results (I know you're busy), I'm wondering if any of you has a suggestion that I could include in this section of Cosmo Connections. That is, do you have an idea of a stronger appeal than any that I have used thus far? If so, I would be vastly pleased and gratified to receive your suggestions.

With a little less than two months of the 1997-98 academic year remaining, we again send our best wishes for the summer, still hoping that we may soon see some of you here at home base.
