Cosmo Connections, May 1996
News from All Over
by Jenny Wyse Suri
Over four years ago, I walked onto the freshly polished floors of the newly
remodeled Cosmopolitan House on John Street to live with a group of people
drawn together from all corners of the globe. Although many of us have
scattered again, I was reunited with some former Cosmo residents this past
December when Norma Rantisi and Chris Shay came in from opposite ends of the
country to attend my wedding in Michigan. Norma is now working on a Master's
Degree in urban planning at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, while
Chris is living in San Francisco and working at Oracle. Those who did not
attend sent good wishes from across the miles. Antonieta Oliver is working on
her dissertation in English Literature in Barcelona. Maike Tapkenhinrichs has
a new address, a new name, and a new husband; she and Thomas Bosold married on
March 15th and are now living in Essen, Germany. Not too far away from them,
Brett Yuskiewicz is doing research at the Institute for Tropospheric Research
in Leipzig. Back in the Midwest, Richard Goldstein is in my hometown of Ann
Arbor, Michigan, where he is a member of the faculty at the University of
Michigan. Judy Gordon recently moved back to her home state of Arkansas where
she is teaching English as a second language. Ben Chen is living in Australia.
Although we no longer share the same address, we all share memories of our
Cosmo Club experience and have formed a network around the globe.
