On Thursday, March 18, we had the chance to show a combination of our most delicious desserts with a lot of enthusiasm and participation from our Community to the people in Urbana-Champaign. The people from the "Comunidad Argentina en Urbana-Champaign" did an excellent job in preparing the desserts which we all grew up with.
Our "cosmopolitan" guests had the chance to taste "panqueques de dulce de leche" (pancakes with caramel), "arrollados de vainilla y chocolate" (vanilla and chocolate rolls), "pasta frola" (quince pie), "flan" (pudding), "arroz con leche" (rice with milk), "alfajores de maicena," "turrón,, and much more. The desserts were served with "mate," the traditional tea we drink while sharing with friends.
We also showed to the crowd other sides of our culture. The walls of Cosmo Club were full of pictures of different parts of our country, handicrafts, traditional dishes, and popular sports. Some people even got to dance to the rhythm of Argentine traditional music.
We hope that the Cosmo audience enjoyed the Argentine Coffee Hour as much as we enjoyed preparing it. We would also like to thank the Cosmopolitan Club for the facilities and excellent organization that made possible this event.
