It’s My House

by Nazuna Morimoto

I would like to introduce my house. My house is Cosmopolitan House. It is owned by Cosmopolitan Club and now there are 14 people in my house. I really like my house. Therefore I want you to know about it.

First of all, I want to introduce you about my house. Actually my house is really old and I heard it was built before 1900. It means my house is more that 100 years old. Then, my house is located in East John Street, thus it is very convenient for me. I can go anywhere by walking and I can always go to classes on time. The best point which I want to be proud is that I have my own room and it is big. Therefore I can have my own time and I can concentrate on studying. Although it is interesting experience to live with roommate by sharing one room, I need to have my own space to relax. All in all, my house is really comfortable.

Secondly, I would like to state about my house mates. I have 14 house mates and they come from a lot of countries such as Mexico, India, Italy, Germany, Korea, Sweden, Israel and Ghana. It means my house is really international. As for benefit points sharing one house with my friends are that I will never be lonely. Sometimes I am really sad because I came here only by myself and it is first time for me. However when I feel lonely in my room, always someone knock my room’s door by accident and say some funny things to me and they try to make me laugh. Thus I always can keep smiling here. Furthermore because most of residents of here are graduate students, they give me helpful advice about classes and homework. In addition, I can ask others to check my English when I write papers. It is very helpful for me. Furthermore I can get many kinds of food from many countries. Because there are many people from different countries, I can enjoy it every day. Therefore, I really like to live with them.

Finally, I would like to explain Coffee Hour which is held in my house. On every Thursday night, there is Coffee Hour in my house. It is an event which every time one country has presentation and provides free food in order to introduce own country. So far Turkey, Columbia, Arab countries and Romania had their own Coffee Hour in this semester. Thus I can eat free food at least once a week and I can meet a lot of people there. In fact, every time there is long line in front of food and others have to wait long time to get food, but because I live here, I can be in line early and I can get food soon. It is really nice since I can take whatever I want.

As a conclusion, Cosmopolitan House is wonderful place to live and I really like here. I recommend you to come to Coffee Hour and enjoy traditional food of other countries.
