Every Friday I finish the week’s last class at 12:50. I come home to the Cosmopolitan Club House to eat lunch and relax. By Friday I am exhausted from being in a totally new environment and speaking in English twenty-four-seven. At first, when I came home I sat in front of TV, ate lunch and chatted with whoever was there. However, one day it all changed. Since that day I have a different plan for Friday afternoons: to watch “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” with a few other people. It was one Friday of September. I came home from a class as usual and there I saw a girl from Romania sitting in front of TV, watching “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” I knew this show from a few years ago. I’ve seen a few episodes back home. Although it did not become popular, it was aired in Japan too. So I decided to sit down with her and watch for an hour before going up to my room to check my email. The funny thing is we ended up watching it for four hours. Since it was a back-to-back episode it did not end until 5 pm and we could not get up and move. Watching TV for four hours was pretty tiring. However, strangely enough, we felt nice. After five days of using the brain for studying, it is nice not to think and just to watch TV. And “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” was great in the sense we didn’t have to think at all. Now every Friday when I come home from a class, Luiza is there watching “Buffy.” Although guys join us, we meet in front of the TV at 307 E. John St. at 12 pm.
